NATIONAL Scheme FOR BIOFUELS AND BIOLIQUIDS
National system for biofuels and bioliquids is system of procedures to ensure biofuels sustainability. The aim of the system is ensure that only biofuels that meet the law conditions (Act no. 309/2009 Coll. ) can be places on the Slovak market.
Advance biofuels are produced from waste unsuitable for use in the food or feed chain, such as biofuels made from processing residue of maize or waste from non - alcoholic beer production.
In 2023, more than 230 million litres of biofuel were placed on the Slovak market, including more than 76 million litres of bioethanol in petrol and more than 155 million litres of biodiesel in diesel. The largest contributors to biodiesel production were rapeseed, used cooking oil, free fatty acids FFA and waste soaps, or waste from palm oil mill effluent. Corn, wheat, sugar cane and sugar beet are the most widely used crops in bioethanol production each year.
The material for biofuel production comes from Slovakia, neighbouring countries, the EU and non-EU countries. Slovakia has the largest share at 23 %, followed by the Czech Republic at 22 %, Poland at 16 % and Hungary at 7 %.
