The festival is the largest science festival in Slovakia and is traditionally held on the last Friday of September in five Slovak cities - Bratislava, Košice, Banská Bystrica, Žilina and Poprad. This year, the festival took place on 27. 9. 2024 and our colleagues participated in a joint presentation of SHMI together with climatologists.
You could find the SHMI in the zone with scientific stands in Bratislava's Old Market Hall. For visitors we had prepared up-to-date information for climatology, emissions and air quality, quizzes to test knowledge, scientific experiments, and meteorological instruments, results of our work or interviews with experts on current topics. The day-long programme offered a variety of scientific presentations, practical experiments, workshops, technological attractions and digital activities. At the same time, the SHMI prepared a workshop for pupils and students called Climatological Detective Story, where the participants learned some interesting facts about the various manifestations of climate change on the environment.
We would like to thank the organisers and our colleagues in climatology for the opportunity to participate in the festival and we hope to see you again next year!
