Our team did not hesitate and worked hard from the beginning of the year to send a new inventory of GHG emissions for 2020 to the European Commission on Friday, January 14. The emission report also includes additional information on fuels, energy consumption, emission factors and indicators needed to manage the Energy Union.
Greenhouse gas emissions sharply decreased in 2020 compared to previous years due to several factors such as: declining production and consumption of solid and liquid fuels in energy and industry sector, decrease of diesel oil consumption in light and heavy commercial vehicles due to the pandemic, decrease of steel production and decrease of wood harvest (increase in removals).
The total level of greenhouse gas emissions, expressed in CO2 equivalents, was less than 37,000 kilotons in 2020.
