Participation in the TFEIP International Meeting in Warsaw

The aim of the meeting was to exchange current scientific knowledge in the field of emission inventories and projections, as well as to discuss upcoming methodological and legislative changes. The three-day programme included plenary sessions and expert panels attended by specialists from across the Europe, including representatives from EMEP, EEA, IPCC, and the European Commission.

The main theme of the meeting was the preparation and discussion of the planned revisions to the EMEP/EEA Guidebook, which will be published in 2027. Proposals for updating methodologies and results of relevant research projects across all expert sectors were presented. The workshop on uncertainties was interesting, discussing their calculation, importance for data quality and use in gridded emissions or inverse modelling. The presentation on the comparison of NOx and NH3 emission inventories with satellite measurements, recalculated using inverse modelling, was also inspiring.

Participation in the TFEIP meeting was valuable not only in terms of gathering actual technical knowledge, but also for building new expert networks and strengthening international cooperation. The knowledge gained and the outcomes of the meetings represent a valuable contribution to further improving the quality and accuracy of emission inventories in the Slovak Republic.
