We were invited to present our work at the European Environment Agency

Based on an invitation from the European Environment Agency, we took part in two very interesting and information dense two days. The individual meetings during the two days of the visit took place in a narrower circle of experts according to the focus and topic. The meetings were attended by a number of EEA experts responsible for the preparation of the European Greenhouse Gas Inventory (CET3) on issues mainly related to the Agriculture Forestry and Land Use (LULUCF) sectors.

Technical meetings where we can present our work is very beneficial for us, in the meetings our work has been reviewed and procedures have been recommended to help us to continuously improve our work. We also had the chance to discuss with LULUCF experts open questions on the new LULUCF regulation and discussed open issues that arose from the last ESR review. As part of the visit, we had an information session during which representatives from the ministries of the Kingdom of Denmark came to present the first Carbon (Green) Tax Act in Europe. The law was adopted by consensus by all stakeholders. It was a good example of how national institutes should communicate and coordinate the adoption of important laws that affect the long-term trajectory of the economy and industry.

It must be stated that the EEA visit had an unusually high added value in terms of mutual exchange of experience and knowledge from the work of EEA teams on the review of the sub-national emission inventories, plans for the next period, valuable information for EEA-EC-CS communication and hence proper planning at the NIS SR level. It is necessary to continue this cooperation and to engage in activities within the EEA review processes not only for GHGs but also for pollutants.
